Battle of the eyeliner gels! This comparison review is looong overdue but since I recently stocked up on my 'Holy Grail' eyeliner gel I wanted to share with you why I love it & the difference between Inglot & MAC. In this post I'll be focusing on Inglot AMC eyeliner gel in #77 & MAC fluidline in Blacktrack.
There's no denying that at one point in my MAC career (prior to having a little one, I was a permanent artist for 6+ years) that I swore by their fluidline. I don't recall ever picking up another gel liner eversince fluidline made its debut out on counters. Honestly, I never had a problem with fluidline, at one point I owned every single color, although I wore blacktrack every. single. day. — thanks to my unlimited supply. And thennnn... something magical happened & my love for blacktrack was replaced! About 5 years ago I discovered Inglot's AMC gel liner (Ahhhmazing!) I'll break down all the details below.. so keep reading! I feel like not many people know of Inglot Cosmetics (the cosmetic company's international expansion began in 2006, so product availability has only been around for a little less than a decade) & you can only get Inglot products at their freestanding boutiques, online & select Macy's. Living in Northern California, Macy's Union Square in SF & Beautylish.com (read my previous post) are the most convenient locations for me to get my hands on Inglot products. So now that I've shared a little about my history with these products let's take a look at the products side by side.
Product Description --
As you can see both products are very similar. But personally, Inglot hands down wins this battle! Inglot's eyeliner gel wins for PRICE POINT especially for the amount of product you get. It wins for its TRUE BLACK color payoff - definitely darker than blacktrack. And it wins for LONGEVITY, the wearing power of Inglot's #77 is seriously insane - it is NO LIE waterproof! They both are long wearing but Inglot is a little more intense (it definitely wears for more than 12hrs & then some) After swatching both products on my hand, I washed dishes, did other chores around the house & the Inglot eyeliner gel was still very visible! You literally need an oil-based remover, (water does nothing) to get this long wearing product off.
Although Inglot won this battle, that doesn't mean that fluidline is the worst product out there or that I won't ever pick it up in my line of work. I still use fluidline on occasion, like on days when I'll wear eyeliner for just a few hours. Its kinda the 'natural' one out of the two, if that makes sense. Hehe.
Tips & Tricks:
My favorite brush to use is a thin liner brush (ex. MAC 210)
Make sure you have an oil-based makeup remover on hand to remove your makeup as well as cleanse your brush (I use MAC cleanse off oil). Sidenote* Using solely MAC brush cleanser & other cleansers that aren't oil based will not remove dried product off your brush, your brush will fray if you TRY to use this as a cleaning method to remove waterproof products. I recommend using your MAC brush cleanser after the oil based process.
A clean brush always creates a smooth, perfect line!
Happy lining! What's your favorite gel liner? xo
