BareSkin Pure Brightening Serum foundation | Review

I was in the market for a new foundation since my skin started to feel a little dry & look less radiant during the winter. I wanted something hydrating, lightweight with a sheer to medium coverage & a natural finish. Honestly, prior to wanting a change in foundation I didn't do any research on what "everyone" was wearing or being sponsored to wear. I just wanted to try a line & formula that I don't normally wear. I've worn bare minerals in the past & always found their products to have a natural finish so I decided to give their NEW foundation a go. The pure brightening serum foundation - Clinically proven tone-correcting mineral foundation and brightening serum in one, seemed to fit what I was in the market for.

First off, there are 20 shades to match pretty much any skin tone. I went for Bare Tan 13 ($29) which is pretty comparable to an NC40-42. Maybe a little more NC42 as it was a pinch too dark for me during the winter, but I'm pretty certain it will be perfect for the summer when I get a little more sun. Check out the shade chart below or their site to find your perfect color match.

BareSkin brightening serum foundation -- shake well, gorgeous
Packaging-
1 oz / 30ml of foundation formula is contained in a hard plastic bottle with a dropper nozzle.

Application-
Shake well, gorgeous. As instructed 1-2 drops (yes, drops! the consistency of this product is pretty liquidy, but the dropper nozzle definitely helps control the amount of product being dispensed) will naturally transform. I prefer using about 4 drops. The more drops, the more coverage & 4 seems to be just right for me! I didn't purchase their brush that they recommended w/ the "reservoir" since I already own multiple foundation brushes that I felt would work with this formula. I think any stippling brush would work just fine. I've used my MAC 182 kabuki brush & MAC 187 brush & found both applied the product nice & evenly. Since I didn't have a "reservoir" to place the drops in, I just used the back of my hand & worked from there. After grabbing some product on my brush I evenly dispersed the foundation on the main areas of my face (T-zone & cheeks) & blended outward. The final finish appeared natural (not overly dewy or matte). I also lightly set it w/ my MAC mineralize skinfinish natural powder in Medium Plus & MAC prep & prime fix+ for more of a satin finish.

BEFORE & AFTER

1) The first image is my bare face w/ just a moisturizer.
2) The middle image is with 4 drops of the bareskin brightening serum foundation.
3) And lastly the foundation set with a mineralize powder plus a little contour & highlight (I love a radiant glow)

Recommendations-
If you're skin is dry I recommend spraying your face with MAC prep & prime fix+ first, as well as your brush during application & after. This process will help hydrate as well as smooth out foundation on the surface.
PROS:
Easy to blend
Sheer - Medium Buildable coverage
Flawless, natural finish
Wide range of color selection
Good for normal skin
SPF 20

CONS:
Not recommended for someone w/ oily or extremely dry skin
Bottle may be difficult to squeeze - but I personally thinks it works for this runny type formula
Price point (if you are on a budget)
Does not have a long lasting wear
Must apply w/ a brush or blender

This foundation is formulated without - parabens, silicone, fragrance, & oil.

Verdict-
I would rate this foundation 4/5 stars. The consistency reminded me of MAC Face & Body (a personal favorite) however without the satin-shine finish. After wearing this product for a few weeks I've decided I need something a little more hydrating for the winter. I do like the natural finish but I think I'll continue to use this formula in the summer when I'm a little more tan & less dry. Aside from that, I do recommend it to those who are looking for a lightweight product that will even out your skin tone without feeling/looking like you have too much on. You can find this product at BareEscentuals.com, Bare Escentuals boutiques, Ulta, Sephora & other retailers that sell bare minerals.

Hope you found this review (which is based solely on my own experience & opinion) helpful!
Xo.
