Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray vs. Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray

Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray VS Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray | roziecheeks.com
You probably stumbled upon this blog post because you're torn between choosing a setting spray & can't decide between the Skindinavia and Urban Decay finishing sprays. I get asked (quite often) which spray I prefer, and I decided to break it down for you.
What if I told you they were both the same? Yes, that's right! The infamous "ALL-NIGHTER" which everyone claims to be their holy grail is basically the Skindinavia's Makeup Spray "repackaged". I say repackaged because the ingredients in both sprays are the same, just moved around a bit. The only, obvious difference is the packaging and price point. If you don't believe me, just check out the UD packaging - you'll see that they advertise their partnership with SKINDINAVIA.

What is a setting/finishing spray?

Setting/Finishing sprays are used "AFTER" you've applied all your makeup to protect what has been applied and help prolong the wear.

How to use a finishing spray:

This should be the last step when completing your makeup look.
Shake the bottle prior to use and spray about 8" - 10" away from your face.
For best results: Spray 2-4 times in an "X" and "T" formation.

I also like to spray some on my beauty blender right before I blend out my under eye concealer. Doing this extra step just guarantees my concealer will stay in place all day long.

Note* Most sprays will leave your skin with a satin finish. If this is NOT the look you want to achieve, go back & lightly dust some translucent powder in those areas where that dewyness is more noticeable.

Product Descriptions

Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray | Bridal:
Kiss-proof, cry-proof and sweat-proof, Skindinavia’s ultra-fine spray is specially designed to resist the effects of excess moisture and helps keep makeup looking flawless. Mist controls stress-induced shine and keeps makeup photo-ready for up to 16 hours.

Skindinavia’s patented Temper Control Technology forms a lightweight, breathable web working with your makeup that slowly releases over 16 hours. The timed-release evaporation retains moisture longer while also drawing heat away from the skin as it slowly evaporates throughout the day. The results are fresh, cool makeup for up to 16 hours.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray:
All Nighter keeps your makeup looking gorgeously just-applied for up to 16 hours – without melting, cracking, fading or settling into fine lines.

Developed in an exclusive partnership with SKINDINÄVIA, our groundbreaking, clinically tested formula is suitable for all skin types and features patented Temperature Control Technology. Yep, this baby actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush and concealer in place – even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or all night).

Now which one is better for you? Here is a little break down of each product:

Urban Decay can be purchased online & in stores where Urban Decay is sold (ex: Sephora and Ulta)
Skindinavia can be purchased online via skindinavia.com & on other makeup sites/stores like Naimies, Camera Ready Cosmetics, Ricky's NYC & Frends Beauty.

Verdict:

I have purchased and currently own both sprays. In my personal experience, I got a better deal with Skindinavia. It retails for $29 and I got 20% off plus 2 FREE travel size bottles of primer & finishing spray and most importantly, FREE shipping. I paid a total of less than $24 for all 3 sprays! Skindinavia always has an offer going on as well, so it's great if you want to save a few dollars & try out the primer as well. The only con about this option is ordering it online and waiting for it to arrive.

When it comes down to product performance, I found that each worked just as great. They both did its job and prolonged the wear of makeup. Each product claims to keep makeup looking like you just applied it for up to 16 hours, but honestly who wears makeup for that long? I sure don't & don't really recommend it. I can't personally speak for it lasting that long, but I can definitely say it's prolonged my makeup for as long as 10 hours. I am a makeup artist & most of my artistry work is bridal, and that's why I purchased the Bridal spray. Without a doubt this product is always in my kit & I use it on all my work. It seals the deal & keeps my brides' makeup lasting all day/night for their wedding.

So to finish this off, they both work great and are essentials to pro-longing the wear of your makeup. If Sephora/Ulta Rewards points are important to you & if Sephora/Ulta is more convenient for you, then the UD makeup spray is probably your best bet - BUT, if you can wait and want to save some $$, then Skindinavia is the way to go!

Have you tried these finishing sprays? If not, what are your favorites? I'd love to know :) Xo
